SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #10: 8th Grade

For this sketchbook assignment, the 8th grade students were given the option follow along with a tutorial or choose an image of their choice to give emphasis

EMPHASIS is used to attract a viewer's attention to the focal point, or main subject, of an artwork.

I about choked on my pumpkin seeds upon seeing the work by a couple of my 8th graders. Bravo, Rowan and Francie!!

CUE THE SPOTLIGHT!

SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #10: 7th Grade

For this sketchbook assignment, the 7th graders were introduced the art principle: Emphasis. EMPHASIS is used to attract a viewer's attention to the focal point, or main subject, of an artwork. Students were expected to fill the background with simple black and white patterns (or zentangles) to make the colored object of their choice stand out. In addition to emphasis, this sketch assignment had students practicing contrast, pattern and line! Nice job, artists!

SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #11: 6th Grade

This sketchbook assignment is influenced by Pop art. Pop Art is a style of art based on simple, bold images of everyday items, such as soup cans, painted in bright colors. Pop artists created pictures of consumer product labels and packaging, photos of celebrities, comic strips and animals.

6th graders were to draw an animal using the style of Brazilin Pop Artist, Romero Britto. All of the sketches were full of bright colors, crazy patterns and the most adorable animals!

Give it up for my 6th grade artists! 👏

SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #11: 5th Grade

This sketchbook assignment is influenced by Pop art. Pop Art is a style of art based on simple, bold images of everyday items, such as soup cans, painted in bright colors. Pop artists created pictures of consumer product labels and packaging, photos of celebrities, comic strips and animals.

5th graders were to divide their sketchbook paper into 4 sections. In each section they drew a donut. Students drew a total of 4 donuts using the style of Pop Artist, Andy Warhol - full of bright, bold colors and fun patterns. Mix them together and we got sketches of the most delicious looking donuts!

Congratulations, Artists!
