SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #10: 6th Grade

For this sketchbook assignment, the 6th grade students followed along with a tutorial to learn how to draw a fruit bowl and creating emphasis in their drawings. 

EMPHASIS is used to attract a viewer's attention to the focal point, or main subject, of an artwork.

Students were expected to fill the background with simple black and white patterns to make the fruit bowl stand out. This sketch not only taught emphasis, but also had students practicing the art elements of form (shading) and space (overlapping fruit).

SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #8: 8th Grade

For this sketchbook assignment, the 8th grade students followed along with a tutorial to learn how to used value and shading to create form in a variety of geometric shapes. The goal was to try to make the shapes look 3D through shading as opposed to relying solely on smudging. Congratulations, artists!

SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #8: 7th Grade

For this sketchbook assignment, the 7th grade students learn how to use value to create form out of a basic shape. Students learned form/shading vocabulary such as light source, highlight, light, shadow, reflected light and cast shadow. Congratulations, artists!
