For this sketchbook assignment, the 8th grade students were to draw a keyhole (using the provided tutorial). Inside the keyhole, students were instructed to draw a scene from their favorite book, movie or tv show. How amazing are my artists?! I'm OBSESSED!!

SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #9: 7th Grade
For this sketchbook assignment, the 7th grade students where to follow along with a tutorial to teach them how to draw a human eye. Then, students were asked to draw a scene from their favorite book, movie or tv show inside the eye. Least to say, my artists delivered!
SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #9: 6th Grade
For this sketchbook assignment, the 6th grade students followed along with a tutorial to learn how to use the shading technique, pointillism. Pointillism is a painting or drawing technique that involves placing small dots of color in close proximity to each other on a canvas to create a larger image. Darker colored dots indicate shadows, while the lighter colored dots show the highlights. Highlights/lighter areas can also be shown by using less or distancing the dots, while shadows/darker areas can be shown by using more dotes, placed close together. Congratulations, artists!
SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #9: 5th Grade
For this sketchbook assignment, the 5th grade students followed along with a tutorial to learn how to draw a frog. Students were expected to create a scene or environment for their frogs. Some students took it further, dressing up the frogs or making them comic-like using speech bubbles. Congratulations, artists!

SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #8: 8th Grade
For this sketchbook assignment, the 8th grade students followed along with a tutorial to learn how to used value and shading to create form in a variety of geometric shapes. The goal was to try to make the shapes look 3D through shading as opposed to relying solely on smudging. Congratulations, artists!

For this sketchbook assignment, the 7th grade students learn how to use value to create form out of a basic shape. Students learned form/shading vocabulary such as light source, highlight, light, shadow, reflected light and cast shadow. Congratulations, artists!
SPOTLIGHT - Sketch #8: 6th Grade
For this sketchbook assignment, the 6th grade students followed along with a tutorial to learn how to draw a wintery scene and techniques to creating value to their drawing. Students were also asked to give their artwork their own creative touch by adding their own details to the scene. I think this little piggy sold it! Congratulations, Kora!
